Youth 4 Peace

A generation of British children is growing up without ever remembering a time of peace. The United Kingdom has been at war in Afghanistan since 2001 and with the subsequent invasion of Iraq in 2003, we have exposed them to almost ten years of war. The consequences are not direct, unless their parents are members of the Armed Forces, in which case they may already know the true cost of war on human lives. Indeed, the consequences for most children relate to their perception of British national identity and our role in the International Community as individiuals and as a nation. Given this political background and how the conflicts are portrayed in the media, perhaps they cannot imagine a time of peace is possible.

Well, we believe peace is possible! Efforts through international diplomacy and non-violent conflict resolution can lead to an era of peace for them and future generations to enjoy. "Youth 4 Peace" is our attempt to promote this idea to children and allow them to dream of a future when the United Kingdom is not at war, and can decommission its nuclear weapons.
