Campaigns
LD CND divides its time between local and national campaigns. It makes sense for our members to focus on the local aspect of nuclear campaigning, and participate in national campaigns by joining protests around the country whenever possible.
Although there have been some reductions in the numbers of nuclear warheads by the USA and Russia in the past 30 years they still have large stockpiles of weapons. Recently, President Obama and President Medvedev negotiated a new treaty to reduce the number of nuclear warheads. This will replace the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) which expired last December. The USA will reduce its number of operational nuclear weapons from 2,200 to 1,550, and its number of delivery vehicles (missiles and bombers) to 800. Although these reductions are welcome, our goal for nuclear disarmament will require a total commitment to the eradication of nuclear weapons.

CND UK has been running their "No to Trident Replacement" for about the last 5 years.
